Small and compact connected immediately to iMac and runs quietly

My son uses these as he's a musician in London, and uses this to store his songs I believe. He had the one below last time, so was happy with double storage this time .

I'd love to give it five stars for its rugged charm, but I can only give it one star thanks to a fatal flaw that makes this hard drive a hard pass. While its iconic orange exterior does certainly give you the impression this thing could survive a tumble down Mount Everest, it's let down by the flimsy USB connector. The rubber shell is so thick that it prevents the cable from properly fitting, meaning the slightest little movement of the drive can cut your connection. The only way to make a stable connection was to remove the orange shell which rather defeats the point. Great potential, tragically undermined by one tiny, yet crucial, detail.

This is the second LaCie external drive that I have purchased. The first is still working fine, but only USB 2. The new rugged mini is much faster and more portable. Would never buy another brand!

Using this as my main external harddrive. I feel confident so far that the drive and software won't let me down, unlike another harddrive I still have that failed after less than a year
