I mainly bought this product because it was reviewed at Choice as being the coffee machines creating the best tasting coffee. I also had another Magnifica in the office which operated since 5 years with 8 users just perfectly. This machine I was buying for my home was replacing a Jura 5 that needed a replacement even thought it has worked well for 8 years. I must say, from the "feel", sound (or lack thereoff) and perceived build quality my Jura was superior. While the DeLonghi is making good coffee, the advantage of the bigger tank did not eventuate as it is using a lot more cleaning water than my old Jura. In the end, the coffee maker is very good but in the back of my mind I always wonder if I should not have replace my old Jura with a yonger brother.

It's a great coffee maker, the crema on top of my black coffee is perfection and the decent sized water tank is a bonus, however, what a pain in the neck it is to descale! They only supply you with one tiny dose, 100ml of descale which is what you need every time you need to do this process and it takes HOURS to complete! I've had coffee machines for decades, had owned a De'Longhi machine which I loved previous to getting this model and none of my previous machines were such a headache. If I'd known it was going to take SO LONG for this crucial step to do, I probably would have bought an alternative machine or brand for that matter. Don't buy this model if your time is in short supply, it would be quicker to drive to your local coffee shop!

Makes a great cup of coffee, in a variety of styles. The water tank could be a bit bigger as it uses water to flush and clean when switched off and switched on so needs refilling regularly (6 avg cups max) . Does not come with water filter for which it has a spot for so using external filter which was not foreseen. Easy to work with when familiar, small footprint which is good and easy to empty grains and cleaning water

Opened up the box to my brand new machine so I could set it up. Found out that this one doesn't come with the first water filter. This is very disappointing; a new machine should come with the first filter so you can use it straight away... Now I will have to wait to use it, until I can get the right filter...
