I’ve used a larger garmin gps. This one is smaller and difficult to hit the correct letters on the keyboard without it picking up on additional letters. Also the “recent” file only seems to keep one recall. That being the most recent. I prefer other models. But this does have a dash cam which is the reason I bought it.

We bought this unit from Costco first. Had it 2 weeks before it broke. Costco was sold out of replacements so we ordered from Amazon. Although its not the fault of anyone at Costco or Amazon, this is a unit I will never purchase again. The camera kept sending "corrupted files" messages. We did everything we were told to do, by Garmin and yet still had the same problem. The other issue is it kept shutting itself off and finally , now that the warranty is done, the entire unit just died. We cant get it to power on at all. Won't buy it again and won't recommend it.

Got this Driveassist to replace the alpine navigater which is not supported anymore. I recommend you pay close attention to the road signs while driving. Examples are highway speed changes that have been put into place after the last updates and as well the now variable speed zones speed is defined by electronic over head signs. Also discovered it may depending where mounted be interfered with by Sirius radio or other gps devices, hope this helps.

Works very well. Was easy to install and update. The Garmin screen itself is nice and sharp and easy to see. The variety of driving alerts are reasonable and not too annoying. And if you really hate them, you can turn them off. Configuration is still an ongoing process. I really like my speed alerts to occur at 10 kph above the speed limit. I have yet to figure out how to do this with this particular unit. Videos look good, both in day and at night. I have yet to find out if videos with accidents or significant braking etc. are locked, which is a feature my other units did. I have tested it with some OpenSource maps for other countries, and it handles them just fine. It is always nice to have the option of using your own GPS when travelling to other countries.
