Huawei FreeBuds 5 tilbyr en interessant balanse mellom komfort og ytelse for de som foretrekker åpne ørepropper. Batterilevetiden er imponerende med opptil 30 timer totalt, og samtalekvaliteten roses konsekvent som utmerket. Lyden er overraskende god for åpne ørepropper, med dyp bass ned til 16Hz og LDAC-støtte. Kjøpere må imidlertid forstå at det åpne øre-designet har iboende begrensninger: aktiv støyreduksjon er svak sammenlignet med lukkede ørepropper, og det er ingen passiv isolering. Det unike, organiske designet er kontroversielt og passer kanskje ikke komfortabelt for alle øreformer. Disse øreproppene er ideelle som et andre par til samtaler, gåturer eller arbeid der omgivelsesbevisshet er viktig, men ikke som primærvalg for audiofile lytteopplevelser eller flyreiser.

The design of Huawei's FreeBuds 5 headphones is unlike anything we've seen from most competitors and even the brand itself. These open-ear buds aren't perfect, and they won't suit everyone, but it's important they exist as they offer something different, which, hopefully, will encourage other brands to experiment more with colour, form and function.

The Huawei FreeBuds 5 are a complete rethinking of the FreeBuds design language, with a rather unique look compared to the rest of the true wireless competition. It’s not just a fashion choice either, with a comfortable open-ear fit, impressive audio performance and handy smarts. It’s just a shame the battery life dwindles so much when the (not quite successful) ANC is active.
