From AIDA64 it says the controller of PNY CS3040 1TB is Phison PS5016. (The weird thing is that it doesn't have SSD physical info on board so I had to check 'PCI Devices' to figure out what driver it got installed. ) This ssd is quite disappointed, although it is better on sequential read/write compared to my old 970 EVO 1TB (last second image), but for usual development, the random read/write is not really catching up. In some case it is even worse than 970 EVO in 70% used storage The other issue is the heat, you absolutely need a heatsink for this ssd, it burns hot when writing/reading for over 10 mins (90c w/o heatsink) There is a review in tomshardware shows how this controller play really bad in sustained sequential write performance (which can goes down to 600MB/s), but I haven't test it personally so I will put it as reference.

Works great on a Gen3 M.2 on my Asus board. Nearly 3000 read and write speed. Good purchase.

Great drive load's ratchet and clank just as fast or faster then the internal drive. 14.6 to main menu and 2.26 to load into game play its. simply amazing. Don't waste your money on the Samsung, seagate, and western digital, most of them. Are held back and aren't running at the full potential because of the ps5's software. Plus western digital black run's at 100f screw that lol. This drive is 5600 read and 4300 write it transfer's game's in second's I transferred 142gb worth of game's 3 game's and it took.. 13 seconds..Save your money get this beast..

I'd like to complain about not being able to read the loading screens on my games. I'd like to complain that I no longer have time to make coffee when I turn on my PC. But... I can't because this is exactly what I asked for. Moving from 7200RPM to a SATA SSD took me about an hour. Moving from SSD to NVMe took me barely 40mins to clone. I love this drive.
