This is a good hard drive dock, but I like some of StarTech's older designs (previous USB 2.0 models) better. Keep in mind this dock has a "soft" power button, meaning it is not a hard toggle that stays on. If the power goes out or you remove a drive while powered up, the dock will not come back on unless you physically press the power button again. No issues out of this dock aside from a couple Seagate drives I have acting quirky (showing up in OS, but having issues reading partitions). This only seems to happen with these 2 specific drives (ST500LM000 and ST500DM002) on this dock, they work fine with a Sabrent SATA adapter or on an older StarTech dock. I've put over 50 hard drives (mix of WD, Seagate, and Toshiba) in this dock, so I think it is just some controller firmware weirdness.

Great little inexpensive device for transferring data from an internal HDD to another device. Had to buy one of these when my PC quit booting up. Simple to use and fast when transferring to a USB 3.0 device.
