This is a well designed pack. I didn't realize it is for a man, but it seems appropriate for my needs.

This is called a “men’s waist pack” but….I am not a man, but rather, an average size, average weight woman. It fits very well and is very comfortable. I have a larger Osprey waist pack that I have used for years and have loved but it is a little too large for some shorter hikes. This one works perfectly. Very glad to have found it. If you prefer waist packs, give this one a try!

I did not attempt to fill all the compartments with sand to measure it's true capacity, but I would be shocked if I could get 6 L in it. It appears to be half the size or less compared to my current 9 L waist pack. No where in REI's description does it mention the water bottle capacity, but a standard 1 L bottle is too big to fit in this pack. The waist strap ends are fairly narrow and not padded, while the outer water bottle covering is very well padded; some questionable design choices in my opinion. I ended up returning this pack without trying it in the field, but it might be OK for someone looking for a warm-weather half-day hiking pack.

The bottles have a round bottom. You can't stand them up. When you pay this much for a fanny pack you shouldn't have to buy cheap disposable water bottles with flat bottoms. Poor design.
