Setup was super easy as is expected with any unmanaged switch and that's about it. The throughput speeds were nothing short of horrendous and often ports would just stop working, on again, off again. Will return and buy a different brand as my old Linksys worked WAY better and was far more reliable. We went through a week of grief with our home network and couldn't take it anymore as our home business was suffering. Save your time and do not buy.

Had two of these go bad for no reason at all, they are unmanaged switches and after about 1yr of use (2nd 1.5yr) they start randomly dropping packets. Re-Wired, reset routers, did all I thought till I finally tested the hub, as who would suspect an unmanaged would just stop working and drop packets. Avoid this thing as there is something very wrong with this, 1 I might understand somehow goes bad [still unmanaged so not sure how], but 2 went bad.

When I plugged cables into the top row, I realized that the faceplate is covering part of the port where the tab-lock should engage. It prevents the cable tab from holding the cable in the switch. I tried to reposition the faceplate and the ports behind them and wasn't really successful. For now, I'll try to use the bottom row. But as that gets filled, I may have to take a file to the faceplate. Overall, it's a mild irritation, but something that should be really easy to prevent during manufacturing. Otherwise, the switch works well, doesn't make any noise, and comes with everything needed for rack or desk mount options.

I bought this for my homelab as I was running out of ports on my managed switches. The configuration options are very limited and it doesn't have many advanced features that you could find on managed switches. This is a very cheap item that will give you more ports...plain and simple. I ran some iperf tests between ports and between another switch and was getting close to line rate. Ping was minimal ~1ms and maxed out the gigabit ports. No issues with the switch so far.

At just one month over 1 year, its dead! Not a good product. ** UPDATE ** The amazon page was erroneously showing a 1 year warranty. I was going to throw the switch and box away when I noticed the box says 3 years warranty! I contacted support and they approved an RMA to have the switch replaced. Took less than 10 minutes to call and get this issue resolved. I would call that awesome support. And they are open 24/7. Very happy with the outcome. I will definitely buy more products from NetGear.
