When I ran out of ports and looked around, I had 4, 5, and 8 port switches, but found this product to be cheaper and easier than buying a professional switch with enough ports just for home use. It's a great consumer-grade item for a home that needs many ethernet drops. For an office, I'd recommend a rack-mount version, but you can mount this on a board if you wanted to be cheap.

I purchased this item to help a friend with their network. The first product broke within the first 2 weeks. They sent me a new switch which then went out a month and a half later, just outside of the return window. Two switches in 3 months.

I haven't had time to fully diagnosis what's going on but I think the power-saver feature is causing me issues with devices that aren't used frequently such as the printer. I'm not using every port and before I had my jacks spread out but I changed and clustered them all together because of that power-saver feature bug.

Great Product. This is a great Ethernet switch for the price. Pros: 1) Works great. No noticeable slow downs on speed. 2) Just plug in and starts working. No confusing installation or setup 3) Does not matter which port you plug ethernet for modem into and which ones are for computers and devices. (interchangeable) Cons: 1) Power Plug. I wish that these were designed so you can plug other cords in directly next to it on a surge protector. (deducted 1 star) This may seem picky, but I find my surge protectors filling up pretty quickly and multiple plugs like these take up a ton of real estate since they cord is perpendicular to plug in. Overall: Works as it should. Great price for this device. This is perfect for the average user who just wants used wired ethernet cables for a faster connection than wifi.

Works great, replaced after had the original kept giving same ip addresses.
