Nicely waterproof not as breathable as anticipated.

Used while hiking Mt Leconte where we had light rain the majority of the hike. I use a running vest and this jacket fit over it just fine and I was completely dry the whole hike. I would say it runs a little large but I didn’t see that as an issue.

I bought this on black Friday before going on my trip to Peru, I didn't have to use it much until I was trekking in the Andes... in my surprise I got soaking wet. I don't know if mine is defective in any way but it didn't keep me dry at all. The rain wasn't a downpour but a continuous rain for hours where by the end I was cold and wet. Im very disappointed because I've only heard good things about this brand/jacket. The features of the jacket all seemed great until put into practice. It sucks because now im stuck with a expensive rain jacket that doesn't work while backpacking through a new country.

I purchased this for a lightweight rain jacket for hiking and backpacking. I like the quality of build, fit, color, etc. I won't have any feedback on how it performs because I will be returning it for one reason. It's hood it way too big unless you are wearing a helmet of some sort. With a ball cap on I adjusted it to fit tighter, but it still had a large empty portion about the hat itself. This info about what sizing build is intended for a jacket's hood would help potential buyers make a more informed choice. I have other jackets that have hoods built clearly to fit just a head without any helmet. This info should be standard for any jackets with hoods in my opinion.

Based on reviews, it is very difficult to find a rain jacket that will keep you dry. This Black Diamond did!! Put it on and zipped it up, then got under a rain shower for 5 minutes, followed by the regular shower for 5 minutes. Was dry underneath!!
