This is a replacement for a Makita 4" grinder I've had for a long-time and gave me very good service. I burned it up on cutting a large oil rig sheet piling, which admittedly is probably more than it is designed for. This replacement is a slightly more powerful motor and is also a little "melted soap bar" looking at the end, but I finished that sheet pile with it and looks to be basically the same grinder - I'm happy.

Had to replace my old one, which lasted a log time. Bought this one to be able to use the sanding discs from the old model. Works great. Hope it lasts as long as my last one.

Some Makita items are not what they used to be. But everything on this tool is first rate and holds location very well. The one thing I really appreciate is viability: It seems Makita almost went out of their way so a person can find their work reference marks. No matter what side or edge I come on at, I can always locate center of the tool to my work. Slot width is very consistent too, even with my shaky hands. Dust bag could be placed better but you can't have it all.

I use 3 of these in my business on rotation and carry a new spare just in case. I have tried them all and this fits my needs.
