ABUS AirBreaker Metallic Copper er en toppklasse landeveishjelm som får mye ros for svært god ventilasjon og lav vekt. Multi-Speed-ventilasjonssystemet og den åpne bikakestrukturen gjør at hodet holder seg merkbart kjøligere på lange klatringer og varme turer enn med mange andre hjelmer i samme kategori. I størrelse S veier den rundt 200 gram og kjennes nesten ikke på hodet, noe som gjør den godt egnet til lange turer og ritt. Zoom Ace-justeringssystemet og den flytende polstringen gir de fleste ryttere en tett, men komfortabel passform, mens den aerodynamiske formen gjør hjelmen rask og stille i vinden. AirPort-sporene er en nyttig detalj, slik at solbrillene kan festes trygt og aerodynamisk i hjelmen. På minussiden påpeker flere tester at AirBreaker mangler MIPS eller annen dedikert rotasjonsbeskyttelse, noe som kan være et minus for ekstra sikkerhetsbevisste kjøpere. Prisen ligger også tydelig i premiumsegmentet, og noen brukere synes stroppene og finjusteringen ikke er helt på nivå med resten av hjelmen. For syklister som først og fremst vil ha maksimal ventilasjon, lav vekt og rittfokusert ytelse, er dette likevel et av de mest fristende alternativene.

Wanted a helmet with great air flow and this is perfect. Light, doesn’t look huge and has really effective tightening to fit comfortably and very light.

I bought this after one of the strap clamps on my Cannondale helmet snapped, rendering it difficult to wear comfortably. The Airbreaker is a nice fit & comfortable, and after trying MANY different helmets, this is the first I found that didn't interfere with the top of my Sungod glasses (other makes were pressing down on the top of glasses frame causing discomfort and pushing the glasses into a less than optimal position, rendering them useless. Only minor niggle is that my previous helmet came with a detachable plastic cover which covered over a lot of the air vents for winter riding, but a thick neck tube should suffice?

Helmet sizing/fit is very much down to individual preference/dimensions so it’s not that this helmet is bad it just didn’t suit my head shape. The lack of adjustability of the straps meant that I couldn’t make this a comfortable fit. I typically use kask helmets as the fit suits me and I have gone back to this brand only for that reason. Otherwise it’s a great looking helmet.
